CARIN Early Career Scientists Program

We are pleased to announce the CARIN Early Career Scientists program—https://www.centralasiarin.net/2023-early-career—scientific, technical, and professional skills training to be held 11-13 September 2023.

The ECS will kick off with 2.5 days of training at the American University in Central Asia (AUCA) in Bishkek, KG, followed by participation in the CARIN Regional Workshop in Cholpon-Ata on the north shore of Issyk-Kul from 13-16 September: https://www.centralasiarin.net/2023carinworkshop.

EligibilityWe consider ECS to range from advanced PhD students from Central Asia (may be attending university either within Central Asia or elsewhere) to working scientists from Central Asia who are less than 6 years beyond their PhD.

Travel SupportFor a limited number of applicants to the CARIN ECS program, CARIN will provide travel support to participate in the ECS training in Bishkek and the subsequent CARIN workshop in Cholpon-Ata.

Continuing Engagement: There will be periodic activities during Fall 2023 and Spring 2024, including additional professional skills training and a group research project with the aim of generating a manuscript for a Q1 journal.

Apply to Participate: To apply for selection into the CARIN ECS cohort, fill out the additional required information in the application form and submit the following documentation in English: (i) updated CV, including URLs to your publications, (ii) letter describing your research interests, your experience with R and/or Python, and why you want to participate in the ECS program (iii) recent photo, (iv) a letter of reference from your doctoral advisor or current supervisor, and (v) if a PhD student, a copy of your graduate transcript.
